Round Rock Youth Fishing Derby- Saturday, April 13 from 7 a.m. to? 10:30?a.m. The City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department presents the first annual Youth Fishing Derby. The event is FREE but?please register. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There will be?three age divisions in this catch and release derby:Perch Division (ages 3-5), Snapper?Division (ages 6-9), Redfish?Division (ages 10-12). Please bring your own fishing equipment. Stargazing at the Roughs -? Friday, April 12, from 9:30?11 p.m.?Stargazing at the Roughs is a FREE, family-friendly event held at McKinney Roughs Nature Park. No registration is required and all ages are welcome. Bring lawn chairs, refreshments, and blankets for comfort. Take the whole family to explore the galaxy together as an astronomer takes you on a tour of the Milky Way that?s truly out of this world. Behold the wonder of the cosmos through Dobsonian telescopes and venture beyond the boundaries of our planet. Learn about the constellations and marvel at the beauty and mystery of the universe. Walk on the Wild Side- Saturday, April 13 from 10:00am- noon. Enjoy an interpretive hike as a park naturalist brings together a unique blend of human and natural history to tell the story of the Colorado River. Discover how the river influences animal, plant and human life along its banks. After your hike, visit McKinney Roughs Visitors Center gift shop with live native animals and interactive exhibits. Boats- Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14 at 2:00 and 4:30pm. By Finegan Kruckemeyer and directed by Frank Newman,Boats is a story about a sailor called Jof, told by his friend Nic. The two of them are life-long friends who meet through bizarre circumstances involving a chicken, a deserted island and a sombrero. It is a story of two mariners fleeing their past and embracing adventure. The play is enacted with puppets, acrobatics, singing and sound effects created on stage with two microphones, one of which goes in water. The magic unfolds in front of the audience from simple objects that would be found on a boat?s galley. The sound effects are created live, a boat is cut from bread, a bird tied from a rope, a circus hides in a jacket. And finally a storm is made with a teacup. Tickets: Starting at $12. Kyle?s 6th Annual Family Fun Ride & Bike Rodeo- Saturday, April 13 at 9:00am- Noon. On-Site Registration Begins at 8:30am. Join us for a Bike Rodeo for the children in addition to a helmet and bike safety presentation. ?After the Bike Rodeo the families will go on a pre-determined bike ride through downtown Kyle.
